
Randy has 35 years of experience as a firefighter and a leader. During his career he has held positions of increasing responsibility across the career spectrum from firefighter to his current position as Fire Chief for The Port of Seattle Fire Department at Sea-Tac International Airport. Prior to coming to the Port of Seattle, Randy was the Deputy Fire Chief of Training, Compliance and Safety for the Boeing Fire Department. In this role he was responsible for managing the training and safety programs of 300 Fire Department personnel located throughout the United States. He began his firefighting career in 1985 while serving in the United States Air Force and at Boeing he reached 20 years of service prior to his departure.
As a respected subject matter expert in aircraft rescue firefighting, Randy has had the opportunity to influence aircraft rescue firefighting regulations, standards, and processes through various National and International committees and working groups. He is very engaged with and an active member of the NFPA ARF Technical Committee involved in writing NFPA 402, 403, 405, 408, 412, 414, 422, and 424. He also has taken on the Chair position for NFPA 1500, 1521, 1561, 1581, 1582, 1583, 1584, and 1585. Randy has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from the University of Washington – Bothell and a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership from Gonzaga University.
