Dr. Patricia Beattie leads scientific development efforts for SciVera.  In this capacity, Pat maintains the SciVera chemical hazard and safer alternatives assessment processes as well as the GreenScreen for Safer Chemicals assessment process, identifies new data sources and toxicology strategies and oversees the chemical/ technical team. Through this responsibility, she has developed a deep knowledge of the chemistry of toys, footwear and apparel, electronics, furniture and automotive.  Prior to joining SciVera, she worked at General Motors for over 25 years as the Director, Chemical Risk Management, Environmental Services.  In her role, Pat and her group provided toxicology, industrial hygiene, chemical management and design for the environment direction to manufacturing and product engineers in support of safer material selection. 

Pat has long been at the forefront of addressing the challenges and opportunities of business strategy as it relates to chemical policy at the corporate and government level, as well as regularly interacting with industry groups and non-governmental organizations.  She led the formation of the Suppliers Partnership for the Environment (SP), an automotive industry and EPA organization focused on sustainability and green chemistry practices and is currently the Chair of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Green Technology Steering Committee.  Pat was appointed to the Michigan Green Chemistry Roundtable at its inception and served on this committee from 2007- 2011.  She was a member of the National Conversation on Public Health and Chemical Exposures – Policies and Practices Workgroup, Center for Disease Control (CDC) from 2009 - 2011.

She is active in the scientific community as a member of the Society of Toxicology (SOT) and American Chemical Society (ACS) and speaks and presents regularly at their national meetings.  She is a past president of the Michigan Society of Toxicology.

Education: BS in Chemistry from The University of Arizona; MS and Ph.D. in Toxicology from The University of Michigan; Diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology (D.A.B.T.).
