Greetings!
Created ten years ago, GreenScreen® for Safer Chemicals is now a widely recognized tool for assessing chemical hazards, identifying chemicals of concern, and selecting safer alternatives. GreenScreen’s adoption into standards, programs, and companies highlights its value. Did you know there are approximately 900 chemicals assessed with GreenScreen? Functional uses of these chemicals range from flame retardants, to plasticizers, to biocides. Over 160 of these assessments are freely available. Of these assessments, 46% are Benchmark-1s ("red"), 46% are Benchmark-2s, 7% are Benchmark-3s, and 2% are Benchmark-4s ("green").
Stay tuned as our GreenScreen Store will soon transition to a registry of GreenScreen assessed chemicals and where you can find them. In the meantime, you can find GreenScreen assessed chemicals in our Store, Healthy Building Network’s Pharos & Data Commons databases, and TechStreet.

EDF Report: “Smart Innovation: The Opportunity for Safer Preservatives”
Assembling a small group of product manufacturers and preservative suppliers, the Environmental Defense Fund conducted a toxicological evaluation on 16 commercially available preservatives by utilizing CPA’s GreenScreen for Safer Chemicals.
Chemical Watch reported on the findings in its article “GreenScreen reveals hazard ‘hotspots’ for preservatives used in cosmetics” as well as Bloomberg BNA in “Green Products to Face Shortfall in Key Ingredients: Report.”
California Department of Toxic Substances Control Alternatives Analysis Guide
